Poppy Room

Lighting, shading and controls designed as one experience.

Poppy Room works with architects and integrators to coordinate daylight, electric light, shading and control behavior for custom homes and select commercial spaces.

Discuss a project

One design intent, carried through.

We define how each room should look, feel and behave from first daylight through the middle of the night. The work moves from architectural intent into a coordinated system the project team can build and commission.

The result supports the architecture and the lives unfolding within it.

Architectural lighting

Layered light supports the architecture, materials, tasks and atmosphere. We put light where it is needed, manage contrast and protect the calm of the ceiling.

Daylight and shading

Shades preserve useful daylight while controlling glare, privacy and reflections. Electric light takes over as the day changes.

Controls narrative

Scenes are written around real activities. The architect can review the experience, and the integrator has clear intent to program.

The room should be right at every hour.

Dinner feels warm. A screen has no glare at four in the afternoon. The stairs are lit at night without waking anyone. Light and shade change together, and no one has to think about why.

Designed with the project team.

We join the work early enough to make lighting and shading part of the architecture. We stay involved through coordination and commissioning so the design intent remains visible in the finished space.
