Lighting, shading and controls design for homes

Poppy Room is an innovative studio founded in 2026. We create cohesive experiences that unify daylight and electric lighting, all brought to life with an intuitive controls strategy.

Render of an Eichler kitchen at night, set for guests. A
pendant hangs from the beam ceiling over the island, where bread,
cheese, a bowl of fruit, a bottle of wine and glasses are laid out.
The walls are softly lit, a painting hangs on the wall to the
right, and the dark window behind the sink reflects the pendant. — Eichler, Los Altos CA

Fewer than 2% of homes today have intentional lighting design. Our goal is to make lighting design affordable and accessible for the remaining 98%. We design for every budget, for every home and for everyone.

We specialize in residential and smaller commercial projects. Our practice spans from the smallest of ADUs to large multi-floor custom homes. We work on a fixed-fee basis on most projects and accept no manufacturer commissions.

Our approach begins with understanding our clients, their lives and the experiences they wish to have in their spaces. We then work with architects and integrators to bring light to these experiences.
